my community =D

the community that means the most to me would be the community of hispanics .all my life i was born and raised in upper manhattan washington heights. i am proud to say i am dominican and this means a lot to me because both my parent were born in dominican republic and they worked really hard to get here. my mom raised me on her own and as a single hispanic mother it is difficult to do. i enjoy being from were i am because we are very prideful of our country and most people who come from dominican republic work really hard to support their children when they arrive to the united states.
Another community that matters the most to me is the community of being a women. We as women are equal to men but i feel like women have to work harder to be accepted. i like belonging to the community of women because we work as hard as anyone else to get what we want in life.1) What primary role(s) do you play in that community?

the primary role i play in this community would be that i am a women.the most important thing i get from this community would be respect,i go to school and i work and i am treated as an equal.some of the problems we have are that some people still have the mentally of back in the days were women couldnt do things that men can, now a women can be a police officer, a contruction work a auto technician,etc. just because we were given the name WOMEN does not men we cant do what men do. and i consider this community very important because we have proven many people wrong and now we can even run for president.

the assignment i enjoyed working on the most would be the strength and weakness essay. the reason why i liked this assignment is because i never really payed much mind to what i was good in or what i was bad in. If it was not for this assignment i would have not realized what i needed to work on the most.I also liked the fairy tale assignment. the fairytale assignment made my creativity come out and it took me sometime to publish it because i couldnt put my story together.

-I like the assignment with the candy because i had the oppurtunity to learn about my classmates and what they enjoyed doing.
-I enjoyed most of my assignments their werent any i did not like i just had a difficult time.
-I think what prevented me from completeing certain assignments was that i was giving up on myself slowly but realized i need to get back on track with my school work.
if i had more time i would go back and work on each and everyone of my assignments and take more time going through them.

MY FAIRY TALE

once upon a time their live this really nice girl named Eve. Eve was the princess of a town called manhappen. as a young girl eves parents gave her everthing she ever asked for and she had a beautiful room and many friends.eve really didnt care about the material things she recieved, she really wanted one thing and that was to be liked by everyone and be pretty like her other friends.when eve would spend time with her friends she would notice that they always got the attention from the royal men and even though she was also a princess they would pretend she did not exsist.one day eve was in her room talking to her pet dragon who she adored so dearly and told her i wish i was pretty like princess liana and princess lium thats all i ever really wanted and it seems like having everything i ask for doesnt make me feel any better. that night Eve headed to bed and wished upon a star to be the most beautiful girl in the town of manhappen.when eve opened her eyes she realized someone was standing in front of her. "hello eve! how are you!" the person said. "who are you "? eve replied., i am your fairy godmother ,my name is star and i am here to grant you the wish you requested last night. (poof!) your wish is my command.Eve looked in the mirror , she saw long black hair, beautiful brown eyes, perfect teeth, perfect face , she was quite flawless.eve got what she wished for but with every wish their are rules to follow, be home before the spell runs out and noone will ever know. Eve went into town and everyone would stop and stare ,people would drop their baskets of fruits and grocery because she was so beautiful. later that day Eve had a tea party with her friends she arrived and everyone could not believe their eyes she was gorgeous, Eve what happen!? princess lium asked. oh i dont know i guess i woke up on the right side of the bed this morning Eve replied. tonight was the grandball that eve was not going to attend but changed her mind and decided maybe she will go. eve wore this beautiful pink dress and some pink shoes and she looked extravegant.when she arrived at the ball everyone wanted to dance with her and all the attention was on eve.her princess friends were happy for her they told eve that she looked great and eve replied of course i do ,now is that you notice?! i really cant say the same about you. princess lium and princess liana could not believe how bad eve was treating them tonight ,she was being selffish and disloyal.the time passed and it was 11:58pm. and Eve was having the time of her life, she was getting the attention she so badly craved for,but things turn ugly once it was 12:00am, eve started to feel weird her acne appeared on her face, and she was back to being the usual ugly princess. everyone stopped to stare at her just like they did when she was transformed and everyone laughed and threw things at her because she tricked everyone , eve ran out crying and she hid under a tree and looked up to the sky and said fairy godmother why did you do this to me, and her fairygod mother appeared, my dear eve i did not do anything to hurt you i warned you and you did not listen ,all i wanted was for you to learn a lesson,and eve looked at her and said, a lesson? and her fairy godmother replied soon you'll realized what i meant.Eve woke up, she looked around and said it was all a dream? even couldnt believe that all this time she was dreaming and she finally realized what her lesson was. you cant always have what you want , you need to be happy with what you have and who you are. i am beautiful i just dont appreciate myself i am the kindess and most generous person out there and i had to realize it through a dream. even though eve's dream didnt come true ,her dream helped her self esteem .now Eve lives happily ever after.

FAIRY Tales

1.the fairy tales i have read were , cinderella, snow white ,and the three little pigs. all these stories are similar and have in common many things, most of the characters are animals or the story always begins really sad and ends happily ever after.their are many more characteristics that fairytales have in common  heres a list:

-.Story always begins with once upon a time ,once lonq ago.
-Begins really sad and ends happy.
-easily identified heroine/hero and villian
-ANIMAL or royal characters.
-Always a problem and it is always fixed.

PUSH & PRECIOUS

some of the characteristic i came up with can be applied to the movie/novel ,the story does not begin with once upon a time because it is not a fairytale its a novel ,it is more of a realistic type of story that many young people can relate to even though it is fiction.the story push does begin really sad and this characteristic may apply, it ends in good terms because precious was happy. Their is a heroine and a villian in every story, in this case i assumed that ms.rain was the heroine she helped precious throughout the story once she precious started to open up more and more to her about the problems she was having in her home.Mary and carl were precious parents and they were the villians in the story,because they abused precious for no reason at all.so some of these characteristics do apply to the story and some do not, sometimes it does not always end happily ever after.

MY FAIRYTALE.

strength & weakness

  Everyone is different and unique in their own way. Humans do share common similarites and differences, strengths and weaknesses. However, behavioral habits, hobbies, likes/dislikes, preferences, etc. are some of the things that set us apart from each other. We can be easily compared to snowflakes. Among millions, no two, are, or will ever be exactly alike.

    One person's strengths can easily become their weakness, and visa versa. Depending on the situation you are in, your personal trait can be molded to the situation, sometimes not in your favor. A person can easily be taken advantage of in a bad situation. A good quality I possess may even end up hurting me in the end. Though, on the contrary, who can really say what is good or bad? What may look like a strenght to one person, may seem to be a weakness to someone else. 

    I possess many good qualities that help me succeed in life. My main strengths include my ability to learn. I can quickly pick up and absorb any new information taught to me, much like a human sponge. Arriving to my destination(s) early is another trait i possess. For me, being on time is being late. The early bed catches the worm. The late bird is a very hungry one. I believe my greatest strength is my dedication to my work and attention to detail. Work includes whatever that particular day brings. Whether it be work or school, if i am given an assignment i do it to the best of my ability. This includes if I am asked by a family member or friend for a favor. I believe that a task should be given a person's full attention to detail and not a half-effort.

    Like everyone, i also have weaknesses that can hinder my productivity. I try to work on these things so that it does not have a negative effect on my daily routine. A strong weakness I have is my kindness. I know that sounds like a strength, but these days it most certainly isn't. I love being kind to people, and see no reason to think otherwise. Yet, my kindness is often mistaken for weakness. Another flaw I think I have is alway's thinking that I'm right, in any situation. I respect others opionions, but i just think that my way is the right way. I often refuse to listen to my boyfriend's advice, although he tries to help me. I know he is usually right about a situation, and yet i always seem to do the opposite of what he says. My strongest weakness, has to be putting others before myself. If I know someone is in need of, or just know that I can help in a situation, I will. Often times, I refuse to think about how it will affect me and might compromise my situation. I worry about others before i think about my action's reaction on my life.

    In conclusion, I think a person's strengths and weaknesses end up balancing each other out. Depending on the situation a person is in, they can determine what will help and what will hurt them. If people analyze themselves, i think they can work on and apply these new qualities into their daily lives. Everyone will always have things they're good and bad at, but this way it might not affect them so severly in a negative way. Their weanesses might not seem so weak, while their strengths continue to grow. 

     

    

What Drives Me...........my strength and weakness.

I think whats drives me is my own motivation, i saw myself at a point in life were i thought i was not going to go anywere and i didnt see myself where i am now.Today i am where i always wanted to be, im going to school living my life witout any fears that i will fall back into my old bad habits,and the reason i got here was because someone believed in me ,having someone believeing in you changes the way you look at things because you know atleast someone cares. I feel that once i complete my goals school wise and can complete my personal goals.

I believe that i can contribute more and appreciate people and understand by listening,and hearing what they have to say because if you dont express yourself and they dont tell you how they feel ,what happens when its too late and you cant go back in time and explain your emotions and feelings.i have learned that we should always be upfront about things because sometimes you think you have enough time to figure things out but then realize the time has ran out.i think i can contribute by helping those in need ,and understanding why and how they got were they are today....another way i can contribute more is once i finish getting my bachelors is going to get my masters to become a teacher to help kids learn and become better people themselves.

Hey guys my name is Enid Leon i was born 02-12-1992 i am an Aquarius ,18 years of age. i am very outgoing i love meeting new people and so far i like MCNY.everyone seems really nice and my classmates are friendly.i love talking and and writing and sometimes i like to read depends on the book.im a really cool person. 
I picked bachelors of American urban studies as my major at mcny ,for the following reasons.I want to become a teacher because i love working with kids and obtaining my bachelors will get me one step closer to doing this.
my career and education goals after i obtain my bachelors i would like to return to school so that i can complete a masters degree in childhood education.
as far as world wide web i am very comfortable using technology , i love facebook and i love to research so as far as the web goes i can get around it pretty well. =] bye.
